URBAN / CENTRAL

Within the city limits of Asheville, new home buyers are attracted to many different types of communities.  In the downtown district, luxury condos are the epitome of upscale urban living.  Condo residents enjoy panoramic views of Asheville and the mountains beyond with the culture of the city at their feet.  Imagine leaving the car in the garage while you walk to a different restaurant every evening.  Stroll to the bookstore or have a picnic in the park, just steps from your suite filled with every amenity.

For a more traditional urban neighborhood feel, Kenilworth offers the best of city convenience mixed with the stability of a long-established downtown community.  Mature trees, sidewalks, and a variety of different home styles are the hallmark of Kenilworth.  Centrally located, Kenilworth is characterized by Victorians next to Tudors next to ranch-style homes, each one filled with charm and character. With its classic homes framed by lush landscaping, it is hard to believe that quiet Kenilworth is in the heart of a bustling city.

The Montford historical district  is quintessential Asheville living.  Highly desirable, Montford invites you home with its tree-lined streets and historically significant homes, many featuring southern wrap-around porches.  Traditional grand Victorian architecture dominates this neighborhood closely followed by authentic craftsman bungalows.  Montford is home to several neighborhood businesses including Bed and Breakfasts, the Asheville Chamber of Commerce, and The Buyer's Agent of Asheville.

To the north of Montford, the university district attracts not only students, but retirees and families as well.  Residents enjoy convenience to the University of North Carolina at Asheville as well as the amenities of Merrimon Avenue, a thriving commercial corridor.

The central feature of North Asheville is the historic Grove Park Inn.  With its curving red tile roof and its remarkable boulder exterior, the Inn is an Asheville landmark. The homes surrounding the Inn are no less majestic than the Inn itself.  Overlooking the Inn’s private golf course, Kimberly Avenue boasts some of Asheville’s most impressive residential architecture.  Situated below rows of towering Norway spruce, one-of-a-kind Mediterranean villas reside next to cut limestone Tudors and Greek revivals that were built nearly a century ago.  In this neighborhood, home is truly a work of art and the residents are proud caretakers of history.

Across the French Broad River, West Asheville is a small city in and of itself.  Primarily developed during the 1920s through the 1950s, West Asheville has been revitalized by young professionals.  Neglected bungalows have been restored to their former glory and the once-sleepy Haywood Road has become the central gathering place for young families, entrepreneurs, and artisans.  West Asheville has a strong activist community where residents can walk to the bakery, meet friends at the pub, or shop for produce at the organic food co-op.
